Franchise\Trade Bookstore

If you have a Barnes and Noble bookstore, Borders, B Dalton or a local private trade store near your campus, they’re not likely to have the book information for your classes. It’s doubtful that you’ll find any textbooks for the hard sciences either. If you’re studying english, philosophy or history you should be able to find some of your books at these types of stores. You won’t find used books at these stores unless you have a private used trade store near your campus.

The traditional booksellers provide you a different shopping experience than the local college store. Customers are shopping at these stores because they want to buy books, not because they have to. Most employees are working there because they have a genuine interest in books and that’s likely to show through when they serve you. If you prefer using new books, then these stores are a viable option to save some money; otherwise you’ll have better luck at your local college stores.
