Textbook Publishing Companies "Bundled Stack"
The textbook publishing companies “bundled stack” game is their current attempt at competing for market share with used book wholesalers. This amounts to taking the new textbook and shrink-wrapping it with a pass code to enter a website and any other related supplements. The professor will then adopt the "bundled stack" as "required" for the course. This effectively eliminates the discounted used book as a choice for the budget conscious student trying to save money.
The publishers usually don’t make the supplements available separately, and if they do, they’ll be absurdly priced. Not exactly pointing a gun and demanding money, but definitely stealing the cost savings a used book would've offered the student.
