Borrowing or Sharing Texts

Borrowing and sharing texts is a good way save money, but this strategy does require some planning on your part. The ideal situation is the friend who has previously completed the class and is going to keep their book. They’re not likely to need it while you’re taking the class, so hopefully you'll be able to borrow it for the whole semester to use as needed.

If you have a peer currently in the class who's willing to let you borrow their book, be prepared to do some careful planning. When you approach each exam your peer will likely monopolize their time with the book, so you need to either study ahead of time, or when your peer is asleep.

If you’ve split the cost of the book with a friend, beware the night before the exam. If you’ve both procrastinated and need to cram, your friendship will be tested. You’ll also need to plan your exit strategies for the residual value of the shared book after the semester is over.
