Private Off Campus Used Bookstores

The locally owned off campus used bookstores typically offer the best local pricing. These types of stores have to run efficiently to survive. In an effort to entice you away from the Internet and school-sponsored store, the customer service is usually good, but can be inconsistent at times. These types of stores represent about 14% of college bookstores nationwide.

The money you spend here is not only helping support local employees, but some portion of the revenues could be helping support the university and local economy as well. Small locally owned stores tend to spend a lot of time searching for used books. If one of these stores serves your University, make a point to check their shelves for your books at the beginning of each term.
